The Gangwon Bicycle Path tracks the coastline of Gangwon State, crossing Samcheok City, Donghae City, Gangneung City, Yangyang County, Sokcho City, and Goseong County on the nation’s east coast. It offers a plethora of historic pavilions, bustling ports, and tourist friendly beachronts.

Lady Suro Memorial Park (수로부인헌화공원; map) rests on top of Namhwa Mountain over beside Imwon Port (map) near the bottom of Samcheok City. The park features a colossal statue of Lady Suro, a legend important to the city from in the ancient Korean chronicle “Samguk Yusa,” written in the 13th century.
Haesindang Park (해신당공원; map) covers a seaside mountain above Sinnam Port (map) near the bottom of Samcheok City. The park, also known as “Penis Park,” features hundreds of phallic sculptures. Rooted in local folklore, these sculptures take many forms—from carved totem poles to 2-meter-tall marble sculptures with zodiac figures tucked inside.
In the southern part of Samcheok, a collection of attractions is closely nestled, offering a variety of experiences:
- Jangho Port: Dubbed “Korea’s Naples,” famous for its crystal-clear emerald waters, perfect for kayaking and snorkeling.
- Samcheok Marine Cable Car: Offers expansive views of the coastline, linking Jangho Port with Yonghwa Beach.
- Yonghwa Beach: Boasts a sandy, crescent-shaped beach and gentle, shallow waters.
- Samcheok Marine Rail Bike: Features pedal-powered bikes on rails, traversing the scenic coast and illuminated tunnels.
